The History of Daan Foundation

Daan Foundation was not established through corporate planning or large institutional support. It began with a simple humanitarian effort during Ramadan in 2020.

At that time, a small group of volunteers started a food distribution project with a very limited plan. The intention was only to distribute meals from the 15th Roza until the 30th Roza — a total of just 15 days — ending on Eid. It was meant to be a temporary Ramadan initiative to help people facing hardship.

However, as the work continued, the volunteers witnessed the growing needs of poor and vulnerable families. Hunger, unemployment, illness, and financial struggles became increasingly visible, especially during the pandemic period. Because of this, the work did not stop after Eid.

What started as a 15-day Ramadan food project in 2020 gradually transformed into a continuous humanitarian mission.

Since then, Daan Foundation has continued serving communities by regularly distributing food and supporting needy individuals with dignity and compassion.

Growth During Difficult Times

The COVID-19 pandemic became an important phase in the foundation's journey. During lockdowns, many families lost their sources of income, increasing the need for food and relief work.

Daan Foundation adapted its charitable efforts to meet these challenges. Alongside food distribution, the organization also introduced the Qurbani Easy platform to help Muslims fulfill their Qurbani obligations conveniently during lockdowns and restrictions.

The initiative received positive support, and Qurbani meat was also utilized to prepare and distribute cooked meals among vulnerable communities.

A Mission Built on Service

Daan Foundation's journey is unique because it did not begin as a large planned organization. It grew naturally through direct community service and the sincere efforts of volunteers who simply wanted to help people in need.

Today, the foundation continues its mission with the same spirit with which it began in 2020 — serving humanity through food support, charity, healthcare assistance, education support, and welfare initiatives for vulnerable communities.
